In Indore, the introduction of a high-tech vehicle monitoring system at checkpoints is expected to improve transparency and streamline logistics from the city, which serves as a key commercial center in Madhya Pradesh, according to truckers and transporters. Around 4,000 commercial vehicles depart from Indore on a daily basis, a number that surges during festive periods.

However, the goal of enhancing commercial vehicle movement in the state by replacing outdated check posts with more efficient checkpoints is being hindered by the lack of a robust monitoring system. To address this issue and prevent disruptions and potential extortion, CL Mukati, the president of the Indore Truck Operators and Transport Association, emphasized the need for a technology-driven solution to oversee vehicle movement at checkpoints.

He, along with other transporters' associations, including the All India Motor Transport Congress, has urged Minister of Transport Rao Uday Pratap Singh to implement a technology-based monitoring system to ensure a smooth and transparent flow of commercial vehicles across the state. Additionally, truckers have requested the establishment of a helpline for transporters and an official app for reporting issues and complaints.

In a positive development, the Madhya Pradesh government announced the removal of all checkposts at its interstate borders on July 1, a decision welcomed by transporters advocating for streamlined transport operations and efforts to combat corruption.
